Youth and Community Exchanges

Due to changes in the strategic direction of Co-operation Ireland, we will not be able to offer Exchange Programme grants for 2009 and the foreseeable future. All funding meetings for this year have been cancelled and we will not be accepting any future applications from groups wishing to take part in Co-operation Ireland's Exchanges Programme. We would like to acknowledge the commitment of our groups over the years in progressing cross-border relationships and wish them well for all their future projects. We would also encourage groups to check the Co-operation Ireland website regularly for news of new programmes which we will be delivering.

The Exchanges Programme has been at the core of Co-operation Ireland’s programmes from the very early years of the charity. We have used the reciprocal exchange model which we developed and refined over the years.

The Programme engaged people in a process that enhanced their understanding of themselves and others, enabling them to take their place in the development of fair and equitable societies in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

The Programmes concentrated on the Youth and Community sector and groups within this sector were supported and facilitated to participate in cross-border and cross-community projects.
