Media
The Media Programme’s aim is to encourage journalists to examine how the media can contribute to a greater understanding of the peoples’ cultures and traditions, both at a national and international level. It seeks to improve the level of knowledge of both young journalists and those more experienced in the media world. Since 1999, the Media Programme has taken the form of an annual conference for 3rd level journalism students. Until 2007 it was known as the Anne Maguire Student Journalism Conference, named in memory of a young highly respected journalist Anne Maguire, who tragically died in a motor accident. In 2008, it reverted to the name the Co-operation Ireland Student Journalism Conference. The theme for the 2008 conference was ‘Reporting the Present, Preparing for the Future’. The conference’s venue generally rotates between Belfast and Dublin.
